When is a credit not charged?
A credit is spent only when a call succeeds. Validation errors (422), authentication errors (401), rate-limit responses (429) and server errors (5xx) cost nothing. A retry that repeats the same Idempotency-Key within 24 hours returns the stored response and costs nothing. A search that finds no products is charged, because "nothing matches" is still an answer.
Do free credits expire?
No. Signup and verification credits stay on the account until they are used. Monthly plan credits reset on the billing date.
